Best of the Best...for Breakfast!

Good morning,

I am constantly being asked, "what should I eat?" While it may seem silly, that's a very valid question. There are so many options in today's society, but what my BEST options? That's where today's nutrition tips come in. What should we be eating for breakfast? This week it's all about BREAKFAST!

1. Best Breakfast Drinks (These are all good options, but these are in order. The best of the best being at the bottom of each list)

  • Coffee - But avoid those Frappuccino's. I'm talking about the simple stuff.

  • Vegan Protein Shake

  • Spa Water - AKA Fruit infused H20.

  • #1 choice though is...dun dun dun....Green tea

2. Best Proteins for Breakfast (These are all good options, but these are in order. The best of the best being at the bottom of each list)

  • Black beans

  • All natural peanut butter

  • Almond butter

  • Eggs

  • Greek yogurt

  • Wild salmon

  • Nitrate free Canadian bacon

  • Chicken breast

  • Cottage cheese

  • Ground turkey

  • Organic protein powder

3. Top Fruits and Veggies for the Morning (These are all good options, but these are in order. The best of the best being at the bottom of each list)

  • Apples

  • Bananas

  • Grapefruit

  • Berries

  • Tart cherries

  • Sweet potatoes

  • Bell peppers

  • Jalapeno

  • Broccoli

  • Watermelon

  • Spinach

  • #1 is...Avocados! (Well, that's very California!!)

4. Top Breakfast Cereals (These are all good options, but these are in order. The best of the best being at the bottom of each list)

  • Kellogg's Special K Red Berries

  • Pacific Foods Organic Lightly Sweetened Steel Cut Oatmeal

  • Erewhon Crispy Brown Rice

  • Kashi GoLean Crunch

  • Plain Quaker Oatmeal

  • #1 Post Shredded Wheat Spoon Size Wheat 'N Bran

5. Best Carbs for Breakfast (These are all good options, but these are in order. The best of the best being at the bottom of each list)

**Save the carbs for a post-workout breakfast. Your waistline & abs will thank you later!

  • Nature's Path Ancient Grains Frozen Waffles

  • 100% Whole Wheat Sandwich Slims (Also a great bun replacement for burgers. We do this at our house.)

  • Quinoa

  • Vitatops Wild Blueberry

  • Light Multi-Grain English Muffins

  • #1 Sprouted Grain Toast (YUM)

6. And Finally...The Best Morning Mix-in's and Toppings

  • Black pepper

  • Walnuts

  • Ginger

  • Cinnamon

  • Flax Seeds

  • Chia Seeds

  • #1 ....Coconut Oil
