What if we could look at our food and know what part of the body it is helping? That is the idea of The Doctrine of Signatures which dates all the way back to 23-79 CE. We can simply look at the fruit or vegetable and it resembles an organ or body part inside us that it's good for. Just take a look at the picture above! So cool...

1. Eyes

  • It is widely known that carrots are good for eye sight, but have you ever looked at the interior of a carrot? It actually does resemble the eye.

2. Brain

  • If you crack open a walnut, it looks very similar to our brain...down to the left and right hemisphere.

  • If you'd like to improve your memory or Alzheimer's runs in your family, you might like to include walnuts into your daily diet.

  • Tomatoes are great for heart health.

  • They can help lower the bad cholesterol and also keep your blood from clotting.

5. Stomach

  • Ginger is commonly used for curb nausea, but it also resembles the stomach.

  • Ginger stimulates the production of bile in your stomach so it can be used as a digestive aid.

6. Scrotum

  • Okay, I did not make this picture, but as you can see there was a typo. Strotum should actually be scrotum.

  • Figs can help the production of testosterone in the scrotum for men.

7. Breasts

  • Citrus fruits, like the Grapefruit, help boost your immune system. I'm sure many of us have taking Vitamin C when they feel a cold coming on, and this is the reason why.

  • Citrus Fruits are especially good in fighting or preventing breast cancer.

8. Pancreas

  • Sweet Potatoes are excellent for keeping the pancreas healthy. Sweet Potatoes have also been found to help decrease your risk of pancreatic cancer!

9. Kidneys

  • Kidney Beans have been linked to healthy Kidney's! Kidney Beans are rich in fiber which are also good for your digestive system.

10. Bones

  • Celery contains a great source of silicon which can help keep your bones strong! Celery also contains essential vitamins, minerals and potassium!

11. Hearing

  • Because of their excellent source of Vitamin D, Mushrooms can help your hearing stay strong.

12. Uterus

  • Avocados are an excellent food for reproductive health. They are loaded with monounsaturated fatty acids which can also help lower rates of ovulatory infertility.

Cheers to our foods working for us! After reading this I'm sure you'll pay much more attention to what your foods are telling you.
