Be December Ready!

Good morning!

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving! I'm sure you ate a lot of great home-cooked food. My husband I sure did! Being that it will be our last Thanksgiving just the two of us, baby on the way and all, we wanted to have a nice home cooked meal. He was in charge of the heavy lifting while I worked, but I came home and prepped the side dishes. It was delicious, we are still munching on all the left overs!

But, we are finally here! It is officially the start of the 2016 holiday season. We need are artillery ready so that we don't need to buy bigger pants after New Years. Well...I'll still have to, but that's for different reasons ;) So, lets find out how to rev up our metabolism right now so we don't gain body fat later!

1. Add Lemon

  • Add lemon to warm water first thing in the morning.

  • It cleanses your digestive system.

  • And it speeds up your metabolism.

2. Let's Move

  • Add more movement to your every day activities

  • Don't sit when you can stand. Don't lie down when you can sit. Don't walk when you can run. And don't stand while you can walk.

  • Try to add movement in everything that you do.

  • We want to speed up our Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis(NEAT).

  • If you're sitting at a desk, find ways to move your hands and feet around.

3. Add Interval Training

  • Mix intense periods of work with periods of rest. At first you can do equal parts, but slowly do more work than rest.

  • This burns large amounts of calories in a short period of time. (ex. walk/sprint)

4. No Bloating

  • Make sure you are eating foods that don't make you swell or bloat.

  • Certain foods for your body type may be causing inflammation. Find out what your body can handle.

  • 1 anti-inflammatory meal can help level off blood sugar.

  • 2 meals back to back can decrease your calorie intake (For my weight loss clients).

5. Throw in some Cardio

  • Mix in some cardio first thing in the morning.

  • If you wake up early enough, you can even do this before eating breakfast.

  • This will give your metabolism a jump start.

6. Green Tea can't hurt

  • Add green tea to your diet.

  • Drinking 3-5 cups a day can help you burn an extra 70 days. (This adds up to 7 pounds a year if you do the math!)

  • The caffeine in the tea acts as a stimulant (catechins) which burns fat. BUH-BYE FAT JEANS!!!
