Do you find yourself always in 'Go' mode? Do you wake up feeling stressed or go to bed overwhelmed. There are foods to avoid when you're stressed and there are food to go-to. Are you helping or hurting yourself?
1. Foods to avoid
Pastries
White Bread
Cereals with lots of sugar
Staying away from refined sugar in general is the idea here. However, when we are stressed we tend to go towards these types of food for comfort. It's important to avoid these, they do not help. What will happen is that you'll find yourself in a bit of a sugar rush, but you will quickly crash. That can leave you more grumpy than where you started.
Salty foods
Potato Chips
Fried foods
Will help make you feel bloated and can raise your blood pressure. Since your blood pressure is already increased due to the stress hormones, we definitely don't want to add to that.
More than your fair share of caffeine.
Caffeine in moderation is fine, but if you are feeling stressed too much caffeine can lead to panic attacks.
Overdoing it can also make you feel jittery and anxious.
2. Foods we want
Food with Prebiotics
These are different from probiotics. Prebiotics are a non-digestible ingredient that promotes gut health in the intestines.
Asparagus
Onions
Garlic
Potassium is consume for heightened stress levels
Avocados
Bananas
Leafy Greens
Edamame
Salmon
Foods that contain Magnesium
Help fight fatigue & headaches
Dark leafy greens
Almonds
Avocados
Pumpkin Seeds
Figs
Teas of course!
Go for the herbal teas, they will help calm you down.
Chamomile
3. And....I wouldn't be a trainer if I didn't suggest EXERCISE!
Exercise will enhance your endorphin's, giving you that feeling of a good mood.
It's food for your brain.
It's in-motion meditation, just remember to breathe and stay hydrated while you work out.
That is it for today! See you next week. If you like what you are reading I would love your feedback!
