If you are just started out on a brand new fitness routine...it's important to pace yourself. You don't want to do too much too soon and risk the possibility of injuring yourself right out of the gate. Follow these rules to ensure that you won't over-train yourself or cause a burn out.

1. Don't Workout More Than One Time Per Day

  • If you are new to the gym ease yourself into it.

  • Make a goal you can stick to consistently.

  • Just show up for 30-60 minutes three times per week to start.

  • Once you have created that habit for a few weeks, add another day in there.

  • The goal here is to be consistent!

  • If you, right out of the gate, attempt to do two-a-days the chances of you burning out of the gym quickly are pretty high.

  • #1 rule: Be Consistent.

2. Don't Get Discouraged

  • Stick to your new plan for a long period of time.

  • Your body doesn't change overnight so it's important to give your body time to adjust.

  • Even if you haven't hit your weight loss goal in six months...you have gained something if you have been showing up to the gym 3 or 4 days per week for half a year. (ex. reduction of body fat, loss of inches, increased cardiovascular strength, endurance improvement, stamina)

3. Don't Eat The Same

  • 80% of success comes from the nutrition you're putting into your body.

  • You can't eat the same 24 hours/day and workout just 1 hour/day and expect your body to be vastly different.

  • Be intentional about putting healthy food into your body.

4. Don't Make Excuses

  • You are not a victim to your choices.

  • You decide if you want to get out of bed to complete your workout or if you want to keep sleeping.

  • You choose to stay late or show up early for an extra 30 minutes of cardio.

  • You decide if you want to eat that bread in the middle of the table.

  • Who cares if it's someone's birthday....YOU DON'T HAVE TO EAT THE CAKE!!

  • You are strong, you are completely capable, and you can do anything you put your mind to!

So, go out there and workout consistently, change the way you eat, know that it's going to take time for change....and leave the excuses at home. You got this!!
