Out-Training a Poor Diet

Can you out-train a poor diet and still get results?
Absolutely not! Unfortunately, we can be killing it at the gym 7 days a week, but if our diet is not on par we will be undoing all the hard work we just did!
1. 80%
80% of getting results starts with what you're putting into your body.
If you are overindulging or making poor food choices, you will NOT be hitting those summer goals anytime soon.
That's why you'll hear many fitness people say you have to make a lifestyle change. Just working out ain't gonna cut it!

2. 168 Hours
There are 168 hours in every week. If you workout 7 days a week for an hour each time, you now have 161 hours left that can either make or break your fitness goals.
Those 161 hours are imperative to your will power and drive. As your trainer I cannot be with you all day, every day, so ultimately it's up to you to be honest with yourself about what's really important to you.
Is that McDonald's Quarter Pounder going to do it for you...or can you make a better choice and eat the right foods?

3. Food Journaling
Food journaling is a great way to start logging what you're eating. You can go back over your day and see, did you make good choices today? Were your portion sizes proper? Did you get enough protein today?
I like using the app Lose It to log my food. It is a free app where you can enter everything from your food to all the exercise you did that day.
This can also help you determine if you are exercising like you should.

4. Results
For weight loss: If you are eating right and working out 3-4 times per week, you should be losing about 1-2lbs each week. If you are not hitting those numbers, most likely it's because you're diet is not what it should be. Try adjusting your calorie intake or portion size and see if that gets you on track. If not, you may need to keep adjusting until you are seeing some changes.
This also applies if you are trying to cut body fat.

That does it for this week. If you have any questions please reach out. Have a fabulous weekend!
