Vacation, Vacation, Vacation!

We are about half way through the summer and are definitely ready for that vacation! If you have yet to travel this summer, you are in luck. So many of us completely throw our goals and healthy lifestyle to the curb the minute we get to that airport. We kick ourselves when we get back because now we have to work twice as hard just to get back to where we left off. I'm going to help you not fall off the wagon this summer by telling you what not to do on vacation!
1. Stay Up Late & Sleep All Morning

Lack of structure in your day tends to be the first thing to go when we wake up in that hotel room.
We stayed up until 3am, which our body is not used to, and now our day is just starting at 11am.
We have missed breakfast, we are hungover, and the day is getting away from us.
Don't get me wrong, cut loose on vacation, but be smart about it. Have fun with your friends, stay up later than normal, but set your alarm so you can get up and go on that morning hike. Your body and mind will thank you!
2. Airport Food

Airport Fast-Food restaurants are another culprit in throwing us off our game.
Fast-Food restaurants can quickly pack in over 1,000 calories in just one meal.
On travel days, it is hard to stay active so it's not realistic to work off those extra calories.
Luckily, we can bring our own food through TSA so pack a lunch, make a sandwich at home, or eat before you head out!
Your stomach and wallet will thank you!
3. Cocktails

I know that Pina Colada looks like a dream, but it also can expand the waist line quick! Just one sugary cocktail can have more than 400 calories in it.
If you must indulge, try to limit yourself to one of these per day so that you're not packing in an extra 2,000 calories.
4. All-You-Can-Eat!

All-Inclusive Hotels or Cruises are another item that can get you into trouble while on vacation.
You can eat whatever you want, whenever you want it creating some pretty bad behaviors for yourself.
If you are staying at an All-Inclusive or Cruising try to not go back for seconds or eating more than 3 meals per day.
Using the small plates is also a great trick to limit your portion size.
5. Skipping Meals

Skipping meals can send your body into starvation mode which can make it very difficult to lose weight.
Try to eat 3 meals per day while on vacation or pack snacks that you can eat on the go.
Also, breakfast is the most important meal of the day so if you have to miss a meal....just don't miss this one!
6. Forgetting H20

Many people are indulging in so many other beverages while on vacation that they forget about the most important one.
Make sure you are staying hydrated on vacation.
Bring a re-usable water bottle with you so you can take it with you wherever you go.
This will also help you stay hydrated while you're in a new climate and that sun is extra strong.
Re-usable water bottles are also key on airplanes. Just make sure you bring it to the airport empty and fill it up at a water fountain after you have gone through security.
Skin tends to dry out while flying so having water with you will also keep you from drying out.
Okay, I'll see you when you get back from your summer vacation!!
