There are so many myths out there about what is healthy and what is not. How are we supposed to know what 'food recommendations' to pay attention to? Today I have your answers. After researching the top food myths, I can tell you which ones are actually NOT true. Some may surprise you!

1. Myth #1: Celery has Negative Calories

  • This one even surprised me. I've always believed that you burn more calories eating celery.

  • Unfortunately for you celery lovers, this one is not true.

  • Celery does contain calories when it's consumed, but it still is a very healthy option if you are trying to cut pounds so keep munching!

2. Myth #2: Carrots are More Nutritious in their Raw Form

  • This is a debunked myth I can get on board with.

  • Carrots are, in fact, just has healthy cooked as they are eaten in the raw.

3. Myth #3: Eggs will Increase your Bad Cholesterol

  • Eggs actually don't increase your bad cholesterol. What does, is a diet high in saturated fat.

  • Go ahead, eat the eggs, just pay attention to how much saturated fat your other foods contain.

  • Eggs have a lot of nutritious value in them so it would be a shame to cut them out of our diet.

4. Myth #4: Don't Eat Carbs!

  • Go ahead and eat carbs, just make sure you are eating whole grains.

  • When buying pasta or bread, make sure you are buying whole wheat.

  • These carbs will be higher in fiber which will keep you full longer without consuming extra calories.

5. Myth #5: A 'Night Cap' will put you to Sleep

  • Unfortunately for all you night cap lovers out there, alcohol will NOT help you sleep or get a better night's rest.

  • In fact, alcohol can make even the healthiest adult get a poor night of sleep.

  • Try to stick to tea (caffeine free) or water before you go to bed.

We had mostly good news today while debunking myths about food. If there's a myth or question you'd like to know about, go ahead and send it my way and I'll answer it next week!
